Shapes, frames and lines
Flowchart shapes, frames to group them, and lines with arrows, labels and styles. A process can be drawn on the same canvas as the tasks that carry it out.
What you can do
- Add four shapes: Process, Decision, Start or end, Input or output.
- Add a frame: a titled box. Items dragged into it move with it.
- Draw lines from any side of a card, to any side of another.
- Give a line a label, a start and end arrow (None, Open, Filled), a style (Solid, Dashed, Dotted) and a path (Straight, Step, Curve).
- Resize shapes and frames.
- Tidy the canvas into a layered layout.
How to
- Open Add a shape or block in the toolbar. Pick a shape, or Frame. Press U for a shape or K for a frame. <!-- verify: U and K behaviour after the tool-key change -->
- Double-click a shape to type its text. Double-click a frame's title to rename it.
- Select a shape or frame to show its resize handles; drag them.
- Draw a line: in Select, drag from a card's edge to another card. Dropping near a card snaps to its nearest side. Dropping one card onto another also joins them.
- Style a line: select it, open Line style, set Label, Start arrow, End arrow, Style and Path. The label saves on Enter, on leaving the field, or on closing the popover.
- Put items in a frame: drag them inside it. Drag them out to unframe them.
- Tidy: press Tidy in the toolbar.
Limits
- Frames do not nest.
- A frame cannot be a line end.
- Deleting a frame keeps its contents, unframed, where they were.
- Shapes do not become tasks or docs.
- Only plain context lines take styles. Dependency lines (task to task) and doc links keep their own look.
- A frame title is at most 255 characters; a line label at most 255.
