Tables, checklists and link cards
Small structured blocks for a canvas: a table of plain text, a checklist to tick through, and a link card that shows a web page's title, summary and image. Lists and references sit next to the thinking they belong to.
What you can do
- Table: a grid of plain text cells, with a header row. Add and remove rows and columns.
- Checklist: items to tick, untick, rename and remove.
- Link card: a URL shown with its page title, description, image and site name.
- Link to a page in siftware.dev itself: the card shows the record's title.
How to
Table:
- Open Add a shape or block, choose Table.
- Click a cell and type. Enter saves, Esc reverts.
- Use Add row, Add column, Remove last row and Remove last column on the table.
Checklist:
- Open Add a shape or block, choose Checklist.
- Type in Add item and press Enter.
- Tick or untick an item with its box. Remove it with its remove button.
Link card:
- Press Add a link in the toolbar, paste the address (
http://orhttps://), press Enter. - Or press Mod+V on the canvas with a web address on the clipboard.
- The card shows Fetching preview, then the page's details, or the site name and "no preview" if the page gave none.
Limits
- Tables: up to 50 rows and 10 columns, 500 characters a cell. Plain text only.
- Checklists: up to 100 items, 500 characters an item.
- Tables and checklists do not become tasks.
- Link cards take http and https addresses only, up to 2048 characters, with no user name or password in them.
- A link card's image is a stored copy, so viewing the canvas does not contact the site.
- A link to siftware.dev itself is never fetched: its title is read once, when the card is made, and does not follow later renames.
