Projects
A project is the container for a piece of work: its tasks, its people, its docs and its canvas. Each project belongs to the company that asked for the work, so the list reads by client.
What you can do
- List every project you can open at Projects, favourites first, then by name. Projects of a dormant or former company sink to the bottom.
- Search by name, filter by Company (admins), by Project type (All, your own company's name or Internal, Client, Private) and, for admins, Show archived projects.
- Star a project to favour it. Favourites sort first and show in the quick switcher with nothing typed.
- Choose which columns show (Project name, Company, Members, Start date, End date) and the density (Comfortable or Compact) from the display options cog.
- Make a project private: only its owner can open it. It stays out of reports and dropdowns.
- Set who can work on a project with User access: staff under Users, client logins under Clients.
- Archive a project, and restore it from the archived view.
- Open a project to reach its board. See Tasks and boards.
How to
- Create: open Projects and press Add project. Fill Name, and optionally Description, Company requesting work, Grant access to users, Default pricing type and Hourly rate. Tick Private project to keep it to yourself. Press Create.
- A new project starts with six task lists: Backlog, Todo, In progress, QA, Done and Deployed.
- Edit: open the row menu (...) and choose Edit. The edit form also shows Email tasks to this project: a signed address that opens a task from each email sent to it. Press Copy to copy it.
- User access: row menu > User access. Pick Users and Clients, then press Save.
- Archive: row menu > Archive, then confirm. Archived projects are closed to everyone.
- Restore: Filters > Show archived projects, then row menu > Restore.
- Favourite: press the star at the start of the row.
Limits
- Admins see other people's private projects in the list as locked rows marked Private, but cannot open them.
- Making a project private makes the person who saves the change its owner.
- If a private project's owner is archived, an admin can release it: it stops being private and the admin becomes the owner. <!-- verify: no Release control found in the web UI; confirm where admins trigger it -->
- Only admins see the Company filter and Show archived projects. Client logins see no Project type filter.
- Bots can be granted access to a project like users; project access is the whole of a bot's reach.
- The address under Email tasks to this project should stay within the team: anyone who has it can open tasks.
